The BestWeb.LK 2026 journey did not end with the Awards Night. Following the celebration of this year's outstanding websites and digital talent, the BestWeb.LK Feedback Session 2026 brought together judges, industry professionals, technical experts, winners and participants for an insightful discussion on what makes a website successful and how organisations can continue to strengthen their digital presence.
Sharing Knowledge Beyond the Competition
The session commenced with insights from Prof. Gihan Dias, Domain Registrar and CEO of LK Domain Registry, who reflected on the BestWeb.LK 2026 competition, its highlights and the importance of continuing to develop Sri Lanka's digital landscape.
This was followed by a series of presentations from experienced industry professionals and BestWeb.LK judges.
Mr. Ruwan Amarasekara, Past Chairman of BCS – The Chartered Institute for IT Sri Lanka, shared his thoughts on:
“From Good Content to Great Websites: Building Digital Experiences That Engage and Perform.”
His presentation highlighted the importance of moving beyond simply having a website to creating a meaningful digital experience that engages users and performs effectively.
Mr. K.V. Kuganathan, Chairman of BCS and CIO of Janashakthi Group, then explored the future of digital competitiveness through:
“Smarter Websites, Stronger Businesses: AI, Automation and the Future of Digital Competitiveness.”
His insights highlighted how AI, automation and emerging technologies are increasingly becoming important tools for organisations seeking to remain competitive in a rapidly changing digital environment.
Understanding Website Performance and Security
An important part of the session was the technical perspective provided by Mr. Sampath Hennayake, Lead Manager – IT Operations at LK Domain Registry.
“Key Highlights from This Year’s BestWeb.LK Applicants: Cybersecurity Insights, Challenges, and the Role of TopWeb.LK,”
provided participants with a deeper understanding of the technical and cybersecurity aspects observed during this year's competition.
The session helped participants recognise that an effective website is not only about visual appearance and content. Performance, security, technical quality and the overall user experience are equally important components of a successful digital presence.
The Winners Share Their Success Stories
One of the highlights of the feedback session was hearing directly from the BestWeb.LK 2026 Overall Gold, Silver and Bronze Winners.
The winners shared how their BestWeb.LK recognition has continued to create value for their organisations beyond the competition itself.
Being recognised as an Overall Gold, Silver or Bronze Winner, as well as being among the category winners, has provided organisations with a valuable achievement that they can use in their branding, marketing and communications.
The winners explained that they have been able to promote their BestWeb.LK achievements as part of their digital presence, helping to strengthen their brand recognition and support their business objectives. They also shared that the recognition contributed positively towards their targeted business and revenue goals.
Overall Gold Winner – homelandsskyline.lk
Representing the Overall Gold Winner, homelandsskyline.lk, Mr. Chalukya Weerakoon, Manager – Corporate Communications & Brands at JAT Holdings, shared the organisation's experience and the value of receiving BestWeb.LK recognition.
Overall Silver Winner – parliament.lk
The Overall Silver Winner, parliament.lk, was represented online by Mr. Buddhika Nawagamuwa on behalf of Parliament.
Overall Bronze Winner – jatholdings.lk
The Overall Bronze Winner, jatholdings.lk, was represented by Mr. Mario Offern, Chief Marketing Officer at Home Lands.
The experiences shared by the three winners demonstrated that the value of participating in BestWeb.LK can continue well beyond the Awards Night. Recognition can become a powerful part of an organisation's story and can be leveraged to build credibility, strengthen its brand and communicate its digital excellence to customers and stakeholders.
Why Didn't My Website Win? The interactive question-and-answer session was another important part of the programme.
Participants raised questions about the judging process and, in particular, what they could do differently when their websites did not achieve a winning position.
The discussion provided an opportunity for the judges and speakers to explain the areas participants should focus on when preparing for future competitions. The key message was clear: not winning is not the end of the journey. It is an opportunity to identify areas for improvement and come back stronger.
Participants were encouraged to review their websites carefully, understand the competition requirements and make use of the resources provided by BestWeb.LK.
Use the Self-Check Criteria Before You Submit
One of the practical recommendations highlighted during the session was the importance of using the self-check criteria available on the BestWeb.LK website. The self-check process allows participants to evaluate their websites before submitting them for the competition and identify areas that may require attention. Taking time to conduct this review before submission can help organisations ensure that their websites are properly prepared and aligned with the expectations of the competition.
Follow the Rules – Every Detail Matters
Participants were also reminded that complying with the BestWeb.LK competition rules and regulations is essential. A website may have excellent design, content and functionality, but compliance with the competition requirements is also an important part of the submission process.
For example, participants must ensure that the required BestWeb.LK logo is correctly displayed as stipulated in the competition requirements. Failure to comply with mandatory rules and regulations can result in disqualification. This is why participants are encouraged to carefully read the competition rules and regulations and complete the available self-check process before submitting their websites.
More Than a Competition
The BestWeb.LK Feedback Session 2026 reinforced an important message: BestWeb.LK is not simply about winning an award. It is about encouraging organisations, designers, developers and digital professionals to continuously improve the quality of Sri Lanka's websites and digital experiences.
The knowledge shared by the judges, technical experts and industry professionals, together with the real experiences of the winners, provided valuable lessons for everyone who participated. For those who did not win this year, there is a clear path forward: review, learn, improve and return stronger. For the winners, the journey continues by using their achievement to create greater value for their organisations. And for future participants, the message is simple:
Build better. Check carefully. Follow the rules. And let your website demonstrate the best of your organisation.
Looking Ahead
With the successful completion of the BestWeb.LK 2026 programme and the valuable discussions held during the feedback session, the focus now turns towards the future. The insights shared during the session will continue to encourage participants to raise the standard of their websites, embrace new technologies, strengthen cybersecurity and create digital experiences that deliver real value.
BestWeb.LK is not just about recognising excellence—it is about inspiring the next level of excellence.
