safety in cyberspace

Thanoja Rajapaksha recently participated in a video recording at ITN, focusing on a very timely and important topic — safety in cyberspace.

The discussion revolved around the theme “Even if you face trouble in cyberspace, you are not alone.” Thanoja spoke about how technology has rapidly developed and become a key part of our lives, but with that advancement comes a range of challenges. The video, which is being prepared for ITN’s official YouTube channel, aims to raise awareness on cyber threats that affect people of all ages.

She highlighted serious issues such as cyberbullying, blackmail, and stalking, reminding viewers that such situations can happen to anyone. Thanoja encouraged people to respond calmly, gather evidence like screenshots, and report the incidents to trusted authorities such as Sri Lanka CERT, the CCID, or by calling the 1926 helpline. She stressed the importance of not staying silent and reaching out for support. Whether it’s by blocking offenders, reporting harmful content, or contacting professional support services, help is always available. Her message was clear — cyberspace must be made safer and more respectful for everyone, and no one should feel alone when facing such difficulties.
