Mr. Goonathilaka detailed the improved BestWeb.lk Rating & Review system, explaining how it merges public ratings with quality control to determine the Most Popular Website in each category. Ratings range from 1–5, and each site needs at least 400 verified user votes to qualify, with verified ratings holding full weight.

BestWeb.lk 2025: 24 Categories + (2 New Categories introduced)

BestWeb.lk now features 24 diverse award categories, covering nearly every industry sector in Sri Lanka. This year, two brand-new categories have been introduced:

  • Best Sports Website – for interactive sports platforms, team/league sites, fan communities, 

  • Best Agriculture Website – highlighting platforms focused on farming, sustainable agriculture, livestock, emerging farm tech, and rural community resources 

Mr. Goonathilaka emphasized that these additions reflect Sri Lanka’s growing digital diversity and ensure fair recognition aligned to each niche.

How to Rate: The Public Can Play a Key Role

Viewers were encouraged to visit the BestWeb.lk “Rate” page during the rating period. From there you can explore shortlisted websites and give a star-based vote, plus an optional review. Reviews help judges and developers gain actionable feedback

TopWeb.lk: Pathway for Consistent Excellence

In addition to the annual competition, Mr. Goonathilaka introduced TopWeb.lk, a monthly recognition system by LK Domain Registry. It supports continued website quality enhancement beyond just award submissions.
